Love Burghfield
The Burghfield Outreach Group is part of Whitley Community Church. Pastor Keith lives in Burghfield Common and the outreach group came out of a vision he was given for the village many years ago. It is hoped that the group will eventually become a new church working alongside existing churches in the area to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to this community in action as well as word.
Mike and Kathie Davis-Bater and their two young children moved to Burghfield Common last summer to lead the outreach group.
They were previously part of the leadership team of another Barnabas church, the Olive Tree in Ely, Cambridgeshire, where they were responsible for youthwork. They also served at Ely Healing Rooms, which is run by the churches in Ely to offer Christian prayer for healing.
Mike and Kathie began to feel a call towards church planting in 2006. On hearing Keith’s vision for Burghfield in 2008, they felt this was where God was telling them to go.
Now they are here they are enjoying becoming part of village life. Their vision is for a family of believers living out their faith at the heart of the local community. It is hoped that as the members of the group go about their daily business, they will get to know what local needs are and work in partnership with other churches to meet them.
The group are again part of the Together in Mission team providing the Children’s Activity Tent at the May Fayre.
The group meet together on Thursdays at 8.00pm. Please phone 0118 9836970 for more details.
